Environment
The Aral Sea basin covers the territory of two southern regions of Kazakhstan (Kyzyl-Orda and Southern Kazakhstan), three regions of Kyrgyz Republic, total territory of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, and four viloyats (regions) of Turkmenistan (except for Balkan).

95% of crop production in Uzbekistan is delivered from irrigated land which constitutes 15% in the structure of the total agricultural land and provides more than 98% of the gross agricultural product.
Humus content has decreased for the last decade by 30-40%. Low and very low humus content soil constitutes nearly 40$ of irrigated land (1.7 mln hectares), total underproductive arable land (extremely saline, plastered, erose, stony) reached 0.5 hectares.
