Trainings on formulation of the regional action plans on child wellbeing

A series of trainings was held by the team of experts on formulation of the regional action plans on child wellbeing. The trainings were arranged in Bukhara (Bukhara region), Urgench (Khorezm region) and Nukus (the Republic of Karakalpakstan)

The main objectives of the trainings are to strengthen capacities in formulation of the strategic papers on child wellbeing, analysis of the impact made by separate socio-economic transformations on child wellbeing as well as consideration of the child rights and interests during formulation and implementation of the regional and sectoral development strategies and action plans. During the trainings the working groups were formed to participate in the RAP formulation.

The trainings gathered representatives of the regional departments of economy, finance, education, healthcare, statistics, labor and social protection, NGOs, training and academia institutions.

The training agenda covered the following issues:

·         Methodological and conceptual basics of the child wellbeing analysis and evaluation;

·         Theoretical basics of the RAP/NAP formulation;

·         Monitoring and evaluation: indices, methodologies and approaches.

The training was completed by the interactive session. During the session the participants divided into the working groups to identify the main objectives of the RAPs.

Children of Aral Project funded by UNICEF is a starting point in implementation of the International Programme “Children of Aral” formulated by the Fund as a follow up to the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan # 207 of 12.09.2008 as well as the Fund mission and mandate. The International Programme “Children of Aral” is a mid-term strategic paper focused on creation of an enabling environment for child wellbeing in the Aral Sea region. The Programme covers such aspects as social protection, education, healthcare, capacity building, family education as well as their interconnection and interference. The Project is to fulfill the first phase of the Programme, i.e. formulation of the regional action plans on child wellbeing.
